Australia Sevens breakout star Mackenzie Davis is hungry to build off her breakout season in the program as she secures her future.

Davis has re-signed with the program for 2026 alongside fellow young guns Piper Simons and Amahli Hala.

It comes after the 20-year-old bested Caitlyn Halse and Waiaria Ellis for the Junior Women's Player of the Year at the Rugby Australia Awards.

"I feel so grateful. It's been such a crazy past year, and I'm so lucky to be surrounded by this group of girls," Davis told reporters.

"The standard of our playing group is incredible. We have Olympians amongst our group, but they put so much time and effort into making sure that we're all ready and show much love and care for the new girls coming in.

"I felt at home as soon as I joined the program."

Davis' rise has been meteoric, only taking up the sport two years ago after making her name in touch football.

The speedstar debuted in Cape Town in December and soon became a big attacking weapon for the Aussies thanks to her rapid footwork and acceleration.

She'd finish the season with 16 tries, eager to grow this tally in 2025-26 as the returning injured stars add a new level of competition for positions.

"Our coaching staff and our playing group just give so much confidence in one another, and we support each other. So I think it's easy just to go out there and back yourself when you're supported by such an incredible group of women," she believes.

"We're so excited for the season to come. We've got amazing girls coming back from injury.

"I think the depth of our group is incredible this season, and I think we're just pushing each other through this long process and then getting ready for the season ahead."

Further re-signings will be announced in the coming days, with the SVNS World Series set to kick off next month in Dubai and Cape Town.
