Barty and the Boomers: Sevens sides embracing Village life

Australia faced off against Oceania at day three of the Oceania Sevens at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

Despite the Tokyo Games looking a little different than usual, the Aussie Sevens sides are embracing the perks that come with Olympic Village life, bonding with some of Australia's finest superstars.

The two teams landed in Tokyo on Monday ahead of their events, with the men's side set to kick off the action on July 27.

With the ongoing threat of COVID lingering, the Olympic teams have for the most part restricted their moments within their nations.

However, this has provided some perfect opportunities for the Sevens players to mingle with some of Australia's - and the world's - best athletes.

Ash Barty has been a popular photo, with Dom Du Toit admitting she had 'virbal diarrhea' meeting the world number one.

"I absolutely did not play it cool at all," she said via Instagram

"I had verbal diarrhea and fan girled hard! How could you not!?

"And yes she is the nicest coolest person ever 🤩💛💚 thanks for taking the time to get a photo with me."

Likewise, the men's side has remained relatively calm and focused in camp, bringing backyard cricket to the village.

However, for some players that composure goes out the window according to captain Nick Malouf, who suggested they have bonded with the Boomers.

The bond seems to extend both ways, with former NBA champion and Boomers hero Matthew Dellavedova reposting the photo of himself and Malouf.

Even Samu Kerevi got involved in the action, posing alongside flagbearer Patty Mills and Utah Jazz star Joe Ingles amongst others.

The Wallaby amongst others was also quick to get a photo with Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant ahead of the opening ceremont
