Alysia Lefau-Fakaosilea is a promising New Zealand-born 7s young gun who moved to Queensland with her family during Australia’s gold medal win in Rio, 2016.
Lefau-Fakaosilea’s mother, Tauva, played representative rugby for Auckland and the Otahuhu club before falling pregnant with Alysia.
Lefau-Fakaosilea went on to play for the Wallaroos in 2019, making her debut against Japan in Newcastle before moving into the Australian 7s squad.
The ferocious speedster made her 7s debut against the Black Ferns in 2021 and was later called into the Tokyo Olympics squad.
A shoulder injury hindered Lefau-Fakaosilea for most of the 2023/2024 season of the SVNS world series before she unfortunately ruptured her ACL at training on the eve of the Paris Olympics.
Lefau-Fakaosilea will be on the comeback trail in 2025.
