Amahli Hala and Jayden Blake have been ushered into the Australia Sevens squads for the final round of the HSBC SVNS World Championships in Bordeaux starting on Friday.

Hala, who was due to play with Australia A in Japan this weekend, joined her teammates for training on Wednesday (local time) and replaces Tia Hinds, who has been ruled out with a calf injury.

Australian leading try-scorer Maddison Levi has been included in Women’s squad for the season finale despite a knee injury suffered in Valladolid.

Blake had travelled with the Men’s squad during their victorious campaign in Valladolid as 14th player and comes straight into the 13 for Dietrich Roache.

Roache picked up an ankle injury on Day 1 of last week’s tournament and has returned to Australia to begin rehabilitation.

James Turner, who picked up a red card in Australia’s nerve-racking gold medal victory over South Africa, has been suspended for three games and won’t be available until the finals.

Australia’s Men are placed third in the World Championship standings with one round to play and have qualified for the 2026/2027 World Series.

They are one of three teams who can win the overall Championship title with another gold medal win in Bordeaux.

Australia’s Women lead the World Championship standings by two points with a gold medal victory ensuring they clinch the overall title.

If teams are tied in points on the standings at the conclusion of the World Championship, the overall winners will be decided by points differential across the past three World Championship rounds.

Australia’s Women meet Brazil, Fiji and Japan in the pool stages while the Aussie Men clash with Uruguay, USA and Spain in Pool B action.

Every round of the HSBC SVNS World Championships will be shown exclusive, ad-free, live and on demand on Stan Sport.
