World Rugby has unveiled a new three-tier format for the SVNS, effective from 2025-26.
The structure will feature the top eight teams competing in a six-tournament series in Division One, with all events switching to a two-day format.

Australia secured their spot in the top division with their qualification for the SVNS World Championship in Los Angeles.
Below that, six teams will compete across three events in Division Two. The top four sides will then join the Division One teams in the season finale to determine the World Champions.
Division Three will be a standalone Challenger event with eight teams.
The top teams from this division will move into Division Two, where they will have a chance to qualify for the World Championships.
"World Rugby is firmly committed to the success of rugby sevens on the road to the LA 2028 Olympic Games and is investing £10 million annually into the SVNS, a large proportion into team participation fees," World Rugby Sevens General Manager Sam Pinder said.
"This evolved model provides greater certainty for unions with more events, increased competitiveness, greater pathway opportunities than ever before and most crucially, a financially sustainable event ecosystem which provides a clear pathway for the future for international rugby sevens."
The tender period for hosting events will launch this month as the roll out of the new format begins.
“While change can be difficult, this is an evolution that ultimately secures the sustainable advancement of a sport that has proven to be a hit at the Olympic Games, showcasing some of the most gifted athletes on the planet," Pinder believes.
"We are grateful for all the engagement throughout an extensive stakeholder consultation process and now look ahead to an exciting future for the short format of the sport.”
The SVNS World Championship 2025 are set to get underway from May 4 in Los Angeles.
